Job Title: Interim manager/school director for Kawa Training Center

Location: Stone Town, Zanzibar, Tanzania

When:  Per direct

Duration: 3 month trial period, preferably long term availability (2 years)

Location: base Zanzibar town/Dole

Salary: To be negotiated and depending on experience and qualifications

Nationality: The position is open to local and international candidates

Introduction:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Interim manager/School Director to lead our vocational training center in 2025. With a strong emphasis on cultural understanding and appreciation, particularly within the context of Swahili culture. The ideal candidate will possess excellent leadership skills, a deep understanding of educational principles, and a passion for fostering an inclusive and culturally rich learning environment and demonstrate proficiency in financial management, budgeting, and fundraising to ensure the sustainability and growth of the school.

Financial Coordinator

Position:                             Financial Coordinator

Location:                             Zanzibar

Type of Contract:              Short-term

Purpose of the Role

Kawa Foundation is seeking a qualified Financial Coordinator to provide financial oversight, prepare accurate reports and reconciliations, and support the organization in ensuring compliance with donor and statutory requirements. The coordinator will also assist in strengthening internal financial systems and contribute to resource mobilization efforts.

Key Responsibilities

          Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.

          Support the preparation and monitoring of project budgets and expenditure tracking

          Ensure compliance with donor financial reporting standards and organizational policies

          Maintain proper financial records and ensure all documentation is audit-ready

          Work closely with program staff to improve budgeting and financial planning

          Provide advice on financial procedures, internal controls, and risk management

          Support efforts related to fundraising and proposal budgeting (added advantage)

Qualifications and Experience

          Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field

          Professional accounting certification (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) is an added advantage

          Minimum of 5 years of experience in finance and accounting, preferably within donor-funded projects

          Proven experience in financial reporting, reconciliations, and budget management

          Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills

          Strong computer literacy, especially in accounting software and MS Excel

          Experience in fundraising or grant proposal development is an added advantage
